We Got Our First Trailer For 'Welcome To Wrexham' Season 2 And It Looks Like Perfect Television (Again)
Oh fuck yeah, this looks unbelievable again. I was a big fan of season 1 because it wasn't just the Ryan and Rob show. They highlighted the players obviously, but also the people around the club. We got to see the diehard fans. We saw the history of Wrexham, the city, the bar across the street from the stadium and everything else. That's what made the show so good in season 1. It didn't matter we knew the outcome of the season, it was learning more about this fairly historical club.
Now we know what happens this past season. We know Wrexham wins the league, sets the record for most points and all that. But, again, this shows more about what happens around the club. I thought the first season really tugged on your heartstrings. I wrote this about a specific scene:
Shit, even the way the show started pulled a little on your heartstrings. It's Mac going to his childhood home with his son and his father. To call it a small house was an understatement. I honestly had no idea how he grew up outside of being a guy from Philly, so it's cool seeing that. Call me soft or a dad or whatever but there's something special that gets me now seeing dad and sons doing some reflecting together.
And sure, Rob and Ryan have a shit ton of money. But it's still investing in a club and needing to get into actual English soccer leagues. You can only be non-league for so long. And you're an idiot if you're saying what they've done so far is a failure. They have rebuilt Wrexham. They've helped revitalize the city because you're getting people there, you're getting people invested. And they are winning games. That's what matters.
Say what you want about Rob and Ryan but season 1 felt authentic because of everyone else around them. You saw the moment Mac realized he's an owner and would have to cut players. Go watch season 1 if you haven't yet. It's an incredibly easy watch and knock out the episodes. It's perfect to have on weekdays before we sit on our asses and watch football during the weekend.
